Successful character design looks great from every angle.
One of the most exciting challenges as a concept artist is to make something look good on a flat surface as well as in three-dimensional space. Therefore I put a lot of effort into designing shapes from a two-dimensional point of view as well as carefully translating them into perspective drawings.
When you do an illustration you have a lot of opportunities to cheat or hide things in the fog. But when you do a concept piece, every element has to be planned out appropriately.
